Solitary or paired, at the leaf nodes; a barrel shaped corolla, prominently veined outside, with tiny hairs along the veins, coloured dull brownish-purple, opening to five short, blunt lobes, rolled under slightly along the margins. Within the corolla are a pistil and five stamens; these have thick, curved filaments and large, four-celled anthers
