Flowers:
Five short, triangular green sepals at the base of a cylindrical corolla which opens to two overlapping, reddish-brown lobes at the top and three smaller, greenish lobes at the side and the base. Within the corolla are four fertile stamens, toped by pale yellow anthers, and a longer, infertile stamen, coloured dark red. Flowers are attached by glandular-hairy pedicels, while the rest of the plant is hairless
Leaves:
Opposite, broad, ovate, on short stalks, pointed at the tip, hairless, lined by sharp teeth. On stems which are square in cross-section but not winged
