Flowers:
Around 3 mm in diameter - four pure white petals, four stamens with white filaments and brownish anthers, one pistil and four small green sepals. In open, branched clusters, attached by hairless pedicels
Leaves:
Whorled (four to six), narrow, linear, one-veined, rounded at the tip, lined by very short, forwards-pointing marginal prickles. On stems which are square in cross-section and almost smooth, with only a few very short bristles
