Four pale pink petals, quite deeply notched, crossed by a few purple veins, and four narrow green sepals, fused only at the base. At the centre are eight short stamens, topped by white anthers, and a longer style with a white, four-lobed stigma. Flowers are pink in bud
Leaves:
Opposite (occasionally in threes, whorled), lanceolate to ovate, rounded at the base, lined by small, irregular teeth. Leaves, and stems, are hairless
