Flowers:
The corolla is tubular, hairy on the outside, opening to an upper lip divided into two small lobes, and a lower lip with three lobes, the middle much larger than the other two, and dotted with purple at the centre. The hairy calyx is about half as long as the corolla, divided at the top into five triangular teeth. Flowers form in pairs or whorls of up to four, at the upper leaf nodes, not at the top of the stem
