The ericaceae, or heath family is a group of shrubs, often low-growing, frequently found on moorland and acidic soils. Plants have small, linear leaves, usually evergreen, and small flowers with tubular corollas and short calyces, both of four or five lobes. There are 21 species in the British Isles.
