The adoxaceae (moschatel) family is a small group of around 200 species worldwide (six in the UK), characterised by opposite, lobed leaves and small, clustered flowers which usually have five petals and five sepals. There are four genera (viburnum, sambucus, sinadoxa and adoxa), all of which were formerly included in the caprifoliaceae.
