Sites in West Sussex

The ceremonial county of West Sussex was created in 1974, following division of Sussex into two approximately equal-sized sections; it extends about 40 miles, from the vicinity of Portsmouth in the west, east towards Crawley and Wahehurst. Over half the county lies within South Downs National Park, created in 2010, extending to adjacent Hampshire and East Sussex. The coastline is mostly low and sandy, and the majority is developed, lined by towns and villages. The county town is Chichester.
